Pennsylvania Teachers Advisory Committee
Michael serves as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Teachers Advisory Committee (PTAC). PTAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that endeavors to create a direct pipeline between highly recognized teachers from the wide variety of teaching settings across the Commonwealth and education decision makers. We provide opportunity for substantive feedback from classroom practitioners across Pennsylvania to inform the policy decisions and educational practices that impact students.
Varkey Teacher Ambassador Program
Michael has served on the Varkey Teacher Ambassador (VTA) Advisory Board since the program's inception in 2016. Every year, the top 50 finalists of the Global Teacher Prize join an extraordinary community of the world's finest teachers in the VTA Program.The Mission of the VTA Program is to ensure a quality education for every child by connecting leading educators from around the globe to promote the teaching profession and support teacher development. The role of the Advisory Board is to help members be impactful in working toward this mission.
As well as having a voice at policy level, the teachers work together on global projects, reaching an increasing number of teachers and children across the globe.
The VTA Program now has over 240 members from more than 60 countries. Many teach in communities facing discrimination, poverty and conflict and while they are all different, they share the belief that education transforms lives.
